Polling rate is an estimate from events delivered to the browser, not a raw USB hardware measurement. Side buttons can still be intercepted by some browser/OS combinations.

How to test a mouse

  1. Click left, right and the wheel button inside the surface. Each counter should increase once per press.
  2. Use side buttons if your mouse has them. Basic mice do not need Back or Forward buttons.
  3. Scroll several notches in both directions and check both counters.
  4. Move the pointer quickly in circles for a browser-visible event-rate estimate.

Checking an unwanted double click

Single-click slowly several times. The repeat counter only flags pairs arriving less than 80 ms apart. Repeated flags during deliberate single clicks are worth checking in another browser or computer.
